90 percent flunk 2009 Civil Service Examinations

QUEZON CITY - Only ten percent of those who took the November 15, 2009 Civil Service Examinations passed. It was the lowest passing average in the government sponsored examination in history.

“This is shocking said a CSC official,” who requested anonymity “for it means that over 90 percent of the 62,389 examinees failed to make it.” Of the total number that took the 2009 examination 4,681 passed the professional examination while the remaining 1,655 passed the Sub-professional test.

“Its a testament to the pathetic state of our public school system which had obviously not taught students enough English to understand the simple test questions that were asked in the examination,” he lamented.

The National Capital Region scored highest with a 14.92 passing average, the Cordillera Region came in second with 13.85 percent and Central Visayas came in third with a passing average of 11.64.

The Civil Service Examination can qualify one for government positions if the applicant meets the other requirements of the concerned agency. (By MARK RIMAS)
