Crash ends couple’s dream wedding

BARANGAY LIBOG, MAASIN CITY -  A couple who were planning to get married this Saturday had their plans permanently cancelled when there motorcycle was rammed by a speeding Bachelor Bus last Monday in Barangay Lib-og.

Police Investigators revealed that the 35 year old fatality Adonis Bascus a resident of Barangay San Rafael and his sweetheart Marife Mendoza of Barangay San Jose were  heading for Matalom Town Leye to distribute their wedding invitations twhen the tragic accident happened..

Witnesses claim the couple was negotiating a tight curve when they were hit by the bus which was heading for Maasin City. Neighbors  claim they left  Barangay San Rafael and were bound from for Matalom town Leyte when their motorcycle was sideswiped by the bus while negotiating a tight curve along the national road in Barangay Lib-og.

The victims were brought to Provincial Hospital where Adonis was pronounced dead on arrival while Mendoza was still reportedly in serious condition. The parents of the victims have filed a case against Dejo for reckless imprudence resulting to homicide.

In a related development, another cyclist lost his life in the city when a 63 year old resident of Barangay Hantag collided head-on with a 19 year old motorcyclist from Barangay Malapoc Sur.

Police identified the fatality as Frederic Ponce and the teenage back rider as Florante Pia. Both were rushed to the Provincial Hospital but Ponce who was later transferred to a Tacloban City had died before reaching it. (By Angie Book)
