LILOANON TO VIE FOR WBO TITLE

MAASIN CITY - Twenty Five year old Rey Labao of Liloan, Southern Leyte will attempt to win the vacant WBO Asia-Pacific Super featherweight title when he squares off with Yulio Moro of Indonesia on January 15, 2010 in Yinchuan, China.
Labao fought for the vacant WBO Asia-Pacific 130 pound crown last July in Naga City, Cebu but lost a 12 round decision to Thailand’s Jesus Muzaka Singwancha.
The title was declared vacant however when Singwancha lost to Czar Amonsot last October in a ten round non-title bout at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City.
Labao who has knocked out four of his last five opponents will be fighting overseas for the second time.
In 2006 he lost on points to Hero Bando in Japan prior to the Singwancha bout. His opponent Moro who has 17 wins has knocked out 15 of his opponents. Moro won the Indonesia Professional Boxing Commission featherweight title last June with a twelve round unanimous decision over Robert Keo Palue. (By Mark Rimas)
