Maasin City mayor is subcamp chief in 26th Asia-Pacific Jamboree

Maasin City (December 19) -- City Mayor Maloney Samaco has been designated as one of the Subcamp Chiefs for the 26th Asia-Pacific Jamboree to be held at Mount Makiling, Laguna, from December 28 up to January 3, 2010, a regional gathering of Boy Scouts and Scouters coming from different councils around the country, along with some countries in the Asia-Pacific region, including some parts of Europe and America.

"That means I will be directing delegations from other councils all throughout the Philippines and the four foreign countries assigned in our sub camp (Subcamp Daza) like United States, Bhutan, Brunie, and Bangladesh," Mayor Samaco reported in his latest column "Missions and Sights and Motions" posted in thereporteronline.com.ph.

The Boy Scouts Southern Leyte delegation participating for the said event will be consisting of 21 senior and rover scouts from the national high schools and the Maasin City College, 5 adults and 6 staff members, Samaco informed.

Meanwhile, Samaco announced that during a recent meeting in Bohol the Eastern Visayas Regional Council of the Boy Scouts has approved the back-to-back hosting of the 7th National Rover Moot and the 1st One-Visayas Jamboree here in the city, at Danao Forest Park, the regular campsite.

Rover Moot is a gathering of rover scouts, usually college level students, while a jamboree is for boy and senior scouts, for elementary and secondary students, respectively.

"The two big activities are scheduled to be held in October, 2010, which coincides with the scouting month celebration. The dates will be finalized by the National Executive Board (NEB) when they meet on December 28, 2009, at Mount Makiling, Los Banos, Laguna," said Samaco, who is currently the head of the Southern Leyte Boy Scouts.
